This is the 3rd Edition which launched Singapore Math into the world spotlight, and certainly the most used edition for homeschooling. Written in British English, metric only and uses Singapore money (which however, has the same denominations as Australia). This edition is also a close equivalent to Australian maths programs.

U.S. editions follow the same sequence of topics as the Third edition (above). It teaches metric (what your child needs to know) AND the U.S. Imperial weights, measures, and American money. Singapore and U.S. terminologies and names are inter-changed throughout but concepts, skills, and actual numeric and word problems are the same in each version. Uses U.S. currency, American spelling (e.g. color), terms (e.g. gas) and conventions (e.g. commas for thousands).

This edition is the same as U.S. Edition, but has a different sequence of some topics both between semesters and between levels. All the textbooks are in colour.

If you are enrolled in a Queensland Distance Education School this is the edition you use. Check with your teacher to ensure you order the correct level as the publisher book level may not match your child's designated "grade level".

This Singapore Maths program follows the 2013 Singapore Maths Syllabus. It is a 'world class' program most widely used in Singapore schools. A comprehensive program designed to provide children with a firm foundation in maths and develop creative and critical thinking skills in order to solve problems efficiently. It is available from us on a firm order basis only and orders will take about a week to fill. Please email us at info @educationreformation.net for more information or to place an order.

Though the workbooks are sufficient for a good maths education, Singapore maths programs don't stop at the workbooks. There are several extras you can choose from to help reinforce, give extra practice or advance your child with problem solving and word problems, etc.

Placement Tests

It is highly recommended that new students complete one or more of the above tests to determine proper placement as SM programs are often further along in their skill levels than Australian programs. These Scope & Sequence Charts may be helpful. Placement Tests may be found here.

NOTE: Each test is an "exit" test for that level. If the test score is 80% and above, it is a good indicator the student has the skills to go on to the next level. If however, a student consistently misses problems from the same concept, it is recommended that you start at that level no matter what the overall score is. If a test score is below 50%, re-test the student at the next lower level. There is no time limit recommended for these tests, but a general guideline would be to allow one hour for the Primary Levels, and several hours for the Secondary Levels. ** In math programs from Singapore, the use of "Elementary" refers to "the basics" of higher math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry), it is not referencing Primary Grades (PK to 6).
